Bird Watching & Being Seen: Finding Value & Peace in a Thriving Flock

????????‍⚕️This past weekend was an incredibly inspirational one ✨ , during which the theme of being seen ????(and heard) emerged ✅.

We ended the weekend ???? in the majestic ????️ Edwyn B. Forsythe Wildlife Refuge ????. While there and appreciating all the sea fowl ????, including geese ????, we were reminded us of the lessons ???? we learn from them about being part of a flock ???????????? that values ???? each other – and it’s the perfect reminder for a Motivational Monday ????.

  • Lesson 1: The Power of Community ????‍????‍???? and Shared Value ????
    • Fact: By flying in a V-formation ????, each goose creates an “uplift” ???? for the bird following, adding up to 71% greater ➕ flying range ???? than if each bird flew alone ????.
    • Principle: When you are in a thriving flock, the collective effort lightens your individual load, fostering a deep sense of peace ????️ and belonging where you feel seen and appreciated.
  • Lesson 2: The Advantage of Being in the Right Flock ✅
    • Fact: Whenever a goose falls out ⬇️ of formation, it feels the drag ????️ and resistance ???? of flying alone ???? and quickly gets back ↩️ into formation to take advantage of the “lifting power” ????️.
    • Principle: Recognizing the right “flock” is key; staying with people who genuinely support you removes the feeling of ‘drag’ and brings a deep sense of peace ???? and security that you are where you belong.
  • Lesson 3: The Importance of Mutual Trust and Rest ????
    • Fact: When the lead goose tires ????, it rotates back ???? into the formation, and another goose flies ???? at the point position.
    • Principle: In a supportive flock, you are valued enough to rest ???? when tired, trusting that others will willingly step up ⬆️ and share the burden, which is essential for collective well-being.
  • Lesson 4: Encouragement is Positive Validation ????
    • Fact: The geese in formation “HONK” ????️ from behind ???? to encourage ???? those up front to keep up their speed ????.
    • Principle: The honking is a reminder that you are seen ????, appreciated, and valued, creating a peaceful, affirming environment for all members to thrive ✨, not just a call for speed.
  • Lesson 5: Unconditional Acceptance and Security ????️
    • Fact: When a goose gets sick ????, wounded ????, or shot down ????, two geese drop out ???? of formation to follow it down ⬇️, lending help ⛑️ and protection ????️ until it can fly again ????️ or dies ????.
    • Principle: True belonging means knowing your worth is unconditional; the flock will stand by you ????, offering help and security until you find your wings again, providing a profound peace of mind.
