Just Do It Anyway: Embracing Action Despite Disappointment

The last few weeks has been riddled with ambulances, ICUs, funerals, despair and general chaos for our Drass and Associates family. In the face of the immense hardship our family has endured, the weight of disappointment can feel crushing. But within that despair lies an opportunity to move forward.

I often reference my friends at Nike and their “Just Do It” slogan for Motivational Mondays. On this Motivational Monday, while acknowledging the pain and grief, we can choose to embrace the spirit of “Just Do It Anyway.”

This doesn’t mean ignoring our emotions or minimizing the impact of these events. Instead, it’s about finding the strength to take small steps, to keep moving forward, even when the path ahead is filled with uncertainty. Remember, even the smallest actions can ignite the spark of hope and pave the way for healing and rebuilding.

Today, for inspiration, I quote one of my personal heroes, Mother Teresa:

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;

forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;

be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;

succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;

be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;

build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, there may be jealousy;

be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;

do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;

give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;

it was never between you and them anyway.
