Red Pens, Perfection and Pending Possibilities

EACH TIME he was preparing to order office supplies, a trusted former administrative assistant would make it a point to come to me and ask, “How’s your red pen supply?”

I always loved red pens. I think it’s because they symbolize making a difference. There’s something about the way they can make a document pop, and I’ve always been a bit of a perfectionist.

When I was in school, I would use my red pen to correct my own papers and the papers of my classmates. I loved the feeling of knowing that I was helping them to improve their work.

As I got older, my love of red pens only grew stronger. As my career progressed and I started working as a nurse administrator, one of my main functions was that of medical records analyst. My red pen became one of my most important tools. I would use it to highlight important information, identify potential problems, and make recommendations for improvement.

In my role as a legal nurse consultant, I use my medical knowledge and my red pen to help attorneys understand medical records and to develop legal strategies. I have the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging and interesting cases. I am able to use my medical knowledge to help attorneys understand complicated medical issues. I love the challenge of working on complex cases and helping to achieve justice for my clients.

In a consultant role, I use my love of editing and attention to detail to also help hospitals and behavioral healthcare facilities improve the quality of their medical records. I review records for accuracy and completeness, and I make recommendations for improvement.

I also provide training to hospital staff on how to create and maintain accurate, legally sound medical records.

I use my problem-solving and critical thinking skills to make a difference in the lives of others. I love my job because it allows me to use my skills to make a real difference in peoples’ lives by helping to ensure that they receive the best possible medical and legal care.

I have my red pen in hand and I’m currently open to consult! Contact me today!
